So you're ready for a solo trip but you don't know where to go? That's not surprising. It's a big world out there and the options can be overwhelming! There aren't particular destinations that are inherently better for divorced women, but there are types of vacations that may be better suited to the single woman traveler than others.

With that in mind, think about what kind of vacation you want to take and what it is you want to get out of your trip. Tranquil surroundings and relaxation? Try a spa vacation. You're likely to run into lots of women traveling solo on this kind of getaway.

Are culture and dining are at the top of your list? A big city vacation is probably your best bet (and if you want to keep to yourself, ironically, a big city is the easiest place to do just that.)

Want to make a difference on your time off? Try a volunteer vacation. It's not only a rewarding way to spend those vacation days, but a prime place to mingle with other single travelers. Travelocity's Travel for Good program is a great place to start your research with several suggestions of companies that organize volunteer vacations.

Maybe you have a few destinations in mind and need some help planning or narrowing down your choices. Web sites like igougo are loaded with trips, tips and advice from real travelers, plus message boards that allow you to get all your questions answered.
