Food: What's A "Small" Portion?

Q: Food — How do I know if I'm eating a "small" portion of something?

A: A good way to start is to simply get out your measuring cup — the ones you use when you cook — to get a handle on how much you're eating right now. I think you'll be surprised. Measure a serving of cereal or pasta.

Start reading the labels on the foods you eat. It's always shocking to read a label on an item that you like to eat and you think it's a single serving and then you see that it's three servings!! Also, your hand is a great way to measure food. A serving of fruit fits in the palm of your hand and so does one serving of protein.
