The Long and Winding Road
Just a few days after a hearing to try and hammer out an agreeable divorce settlement, Paul McCartney has offered his soon-to-be-ex Heather Mills a settlement reportedly worth over $50 million.
According to sources, the first offers McCartney made were somewhere in the six to ten million dollar range, but Heather's attorneys have been fighting to get that number bumped up ever since divorce proceedings began.
Really, what's a few million extra when you're worth over a billion dollars, right?
Both legal teams are still haggling over details, including a much-reported confidentiality clause that McCartney has apparently insisted Mills sign. The settlement offer comes just days after McCartney told the Radio Times that divorcing Mills was like "going through hell."
A source close to McCartney claims that his legal team is aware a judge probably would not award Heather more than $50 million, so he's offered that in hopes that she'll accept.
If no agreement is reached, the two will head back to court.
I'm sure Ms. Mills became accustomed to a rather lavish lifestyle while married to music royalty, but $50 million isn't exactly loose change.
I would say let's hope for an amicable and quick settlement, but with the way this has played out, I wouldn't bet on it.
