Fashion Week Wrap-Up
The shows are over with Mina-Jacqueline Au
I think I am having Fashion-Week withdrawal.
After waking up yesterday, it felt strange that I was no longer rushing to put on pretty clothes and scrambling for matching jewelry in effort to prepare a day full of shows. Then came lunch time, my intern asked me what I wanted to order and I was temporarily stunned and speechless. You see, Fashion Week has been a great diet for me. During Fashion Week, I'd be so busy, I wouldn't even know it was lunch time - and when night came, I'd opt for going home to sleep over dinner. Going to sleep at a normal time last night left me wide awake in bed!
So, this is my last blog. It's been fun. I think I've gotten not just a great sense of Spring 2008 trends, but I even have my wardrobe set! There is definitely a certain sense of structured femininity in all the collections I saw, with a little bit of the glamorous (not hippie!) '70's mixed in. The collections were all very polished, ladylike and wearable, quite different from last Spring's collections.
This last season (Spring and Summer), we've been seeing a lot of adorable baby doll dresses, sac dresses and lantern dresses with no waists or empire waist - and most of them mini dresses. They are indeed very cute and I had a blast wearing them this past Spring and Summer. But I am looking forward to next Spring where we can expect a sexier and leaner-line silhouette with sunny prints and slimming materials. The best part is, I - not having mile-long-legs - will still look great in the longer-length skirts and dresses. The colors are also a little more subtle compared to last year, but still colorful. I can't wait till Spring '08!
The tents are being taken apart as I write, and Bryant Park will once again be restored to its old self. Designers will finally get to wind down a bit before they prepare for their Fall/Winter '08 collections. As fashion editors frantically get what they saw from this last week in their issues - you should be happy to know, you too have had the opportunity to get a glimpse of what the editors reviewed. I hope I was able to bring a little bit of fashion glamor in your lives for the last few days, and also a deeper meaning to fashion then just dresses and clothes.
Coco Chanel once said, "Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." Fashion doesn't make who you are, but fashion enhances you. Fashion should bring inspiration to your everyday lives. Whether you are a single girl in a big city, a single-mother of two, or whatever you are, fashion should play a role in your life. It'll make you happier and you'll walk with your head higher. Until next time ...
Many thanks to my loyal readers, the very awesome photographer who on many occasions has helped me pushed my way through the onlookers in front of the tents, Frank Siciliano, and most importantly, everyone who has been involved in this project at First Wives World - all the late night emails, phone calls... Many thanks!

Sad to see you go.
Sad to see you go. Your blog's been a joy to read. I hope you will be back with more fashion and social information very soon.
Excellent Job!
Great details Mina! I love your blog. I read it everyday. I hope this will continue for a while. But I CANT SEE YOUR PICTURES!!! You have too many pictures and they are too small. I want to see the models and I want to see all the shoes and bags you talk about. Can you post like you did before? One big picture with attachments?
Pictures
There should be image attachments on each post; only the "main" image in the post should be a collage. We aren't able to add extra images inline, so we have attached them as a series of links. If you click on the links above (and in each of Mina's other posts), they should open regular-sized images for each photo.
If you're having problems with viewing the images, please let us know. You can email justin @ firstwivesworld . com
We'll Miss You!!
This is so sad Mina. I religiously read your blog for the last week and it's been such fun. You did bring fashion glamour to us. I am going to miss you and I hope you will be blogging on First Wives World very soon for the next Fashion Week. It's boring to keep reading about divorce blogs here.
By the way, you are so pretty!
