Sarah, I think you may not have lost her entirely. She is in there waiting for the moment when she is most needed. She has become an aspect of the even greater, larger and wiser you. Your past continues to inform you. Only change is inevitable and the more we bring to the present moment the better we are to handle whatever may come. Perhaps you would not have weathered this separation as well as you have without the inner knowledge of determination, strength, balance, protection and growth you found in Karate. The earlier you is always within you but with a more discerning and discriminating eye. If we were made of crystal, each new mark would only make us reflect more light. You are beautiful!
a brown belt? that is incredibly cool and no one can ever take that away from you. whether you get the black belt or not, you kick ass, literally and metaphorically. and i love the reply from Guest. i'm going to try to spend the day tomorrow being made of crystal!
Just wanted to say that I really appreciate your honesty and openness about these personal subjects. I think we all think back at times in our lives when we loved who we were and would like to go back and be "her" again. Unfortunately, and fortunately, life moves forward. Old passions may return. And new passions will show up. The exciting part is that what lies ahead is never what you know, or what you imagined it to be. It's full of mystery and surprises, and full of the unknown. And there's something irreplaceably exciting about that.
Thank you all! I agree, bargee, the crystal metaphor is lovely. And the first guest is right, she may not be lost, just waiting for this "limbo" of separation to be over. I also agree that Karate gave me some skills that played directly into having a marriage based on mutual respect. My old passions may return some day, but I am looking forward to exploring some new ones soon. There's nothing like a divorce to give one the latitude to do some serious self exploration, right? May I take the opportunity to point out out what an eloquent bunch you are? I just love these responses. They are a treasure to me.
Really rocks! It always did, but who you are and what you bring to your friendships just gets more rich and extraordinary every day forward. Just brilliant!
