Getting Back In The Game

The gatherer becomes the hunter

This week was the last week before classes resume — the only chance to meet and mingle with the new students before school demands take over all our lives.

One thing I noticed immediately about the new crop is that it is filled with eye candy. Good looking and smart? Score! Things could start looking up for me - provided these good-looking geniuses also have souls.

I've realized a few things within the last few years, and more so in the unfolding of the summer. I may not be looking to get "snatched up," but that doesn't mean I should sit idly by. I've decided I'm going to start putting my wheels in motion.

A perfect example: I went to a mixer event on the first day of orientation. I was making a beeline for the bar — I had been at that particular function too long without a liquid pacifier — when I "accidentally" met one of these attractive, interesting new students.

There seemed to be instant chemistry — we chatted for quite some time before parting company to continue mingling. Late, he came back for another conversation, which I found interesting. True, we had spoken for a while at the bar, but why come back and talk to the same person again?

I know I was immediately attracted to him. Could it be that he was interested in me a well?

he digs you

Don't hesitate about it. And if I'm wrong I'm wrong, but I'd be open to another drink!
