Getting It On At The NYPD

Let's back up. I was on Debbie's show on Monday. Apparently, the Montel Williams Show contacted Debbie to see if she and a few other women from First Wives World would like to be a part of an upcoming show on "How to Get Your Sexy Back." The show was about women doing things to get their sexy back — even after divorce — and pole dancing was part of it.

As we all piled into the limo, Debbie said this was going to be a PG-rated class — for which I was grateful. At least I won't have to send my parents or my kids out of the country when it airs.

At some point, I thought "Wait, what am I thinking? I'm 48 years old, I can't do this!" Then I thought "Wait. I'm 48 years old, so why not do this?" Of course, several pomegranate martinis helped in my decision.

So we all made our way to the NYPD: New York Pole Dancing. We changed into yoga clothes and met the instructors — who were fantastic. They filmed the class for the Montel show.

I realized as I grabbed the pole for the first time that this was not the time to be shy, so I just went for it. I learned to circle and dip, and learned a wrap my legs around the pole and hold on move.

I learned that night that sometimes in life, you just have to grab that pole and hang on.

As you can tell, I had a fantastic week: Debbie's show on Monday, the Montel Williams Show on Wednesday, and when I got home, I picked up the October issue of More magazine. On page 34, my name is mentioned, along with an article about First Wives World!

I can honestly say it was great to be me last week! By the way, as a gift from the Montel show, they sent me my own pole for my bedroom. I have definitely gotten my sexy back!
