At The Shows With Mina-Jacqueline Au

It’s a wrap.

Yesterday was a good hair day. The sun was out and no humidity. I even got to sleep in a bit!

I got up, well rested in the morning, made a couple of calls to obtain a Fish & Wildlife license to import exotic python handbags for Bon-Luxe (yes, you read right - Fish & Wildlife license!!) and then I got dressed.

For my final day of shows, I wore a grey Rebecca Taylor pencil skirt paired with a black & beige Kookai lace camisole I bought many years ago in Paris (Why is it that they don't sell Kookai in the US?!). I wore the very pretty and sexy black lace slings that Bruno Frisoni overnight-ed to me from Paris. (The slings drew ample Oh's and Ah's on the street and at the shows.) They are so beautiful (and comfortable) that I didn't want to take them off when I got home.

My last show for the season was Caravan and it was good. I have to start off by praising their nicely done job on model choice. The models they used were beautiful (not scary) and healthy (not anorexic). Still with the mile long legs and Barbie doll waists, these models had breasts and butts. They were very much "real" and hence, the clothing looked even better.

Caravan is not a clothing line, but a unique store in New York. They were first a store on wheels — in an RV, with the concept of bringing a boutique to the clients. Then they grew to a boutique in NoHo and another appointment only space in Carnegie Hill. Caravan features over fifty apparel designers from around the globe and offers a full time stylist service for their clients.

The show was long, almost an hour long. They featured brands that they carry in the shops and it was definitely a treat for the eyes. They had flowing dresses by Vivienne Westwood to suave men's sportswear by Fred Perry of England. My very favorite was a grey dress by Kimberley Foley. It was shaped like a doll's dress — cinched waist and a frou frou full (but short) shirk with cut-out discs to make the fullness of the skirt.

After the show, I met up with Selvie, my Business Director for high-tea at the St. Regis, to go over Milan Fashion Week schedule as well as the annual Bon-Luxe shopping night for celebrities and tastemakers this winter. Work is never ending ... just when I thought I can finally breathe — another project, another trip comes onto my plate.

Well it's a wrap. Fashion week is finally over. I must say, it's bitter sweet. Fashion Week in New York for me, is beyond exciting and fun. At the same time, it's tiring (plus still recovering from being away the week before Fashion Week) and blogging at 3 am every night isn't my usual activity.

In my mind, I feel like a little kid packing up to go home from Summer camp. In reality, I am pretty much packing up to go home. I can finally have time to sleep now ... I've been literally living out of the tents for the last five days. It's quite sad and until next season ...

Stay tuned for some of my Fashion Week afterthoughts tomorrow, as well as more exciting pictures!

Note to my readers: Thank you so much for all your support for my blog. Your comments are so uplifting ... and they help, especially when I am trying very hard not to fall asleep after a full day of shows so I can finish blogging for the night. And thank you for letting me pretend that I am Carrie Bradshaw for a few days.

For those that inquired about photos : First Wives World is working on adding larger attachments of different photos from my days retroactively. They'll be adding them throughout the day, so check back with each of my blogs from the last few days for new and larger photos. They'll be at the bottom click on the links to view the images.

Once again, thank you. For those of you that celebrate Rosh Hashanah, L'Shanah Tova! For those of you that don't celebrate (myself included), Happy Autumn!

Update: We have added expanded photos. Please click on the links below to view each image.

Well Done - Thanks

Just wanted to let you know how exciting this was for me the last few days. You provided great insight and was a great addition to FWW. I definitely hope to see you back real soon. Thanks again for all the wonderful info!!!

We'll miss you -- great job

I wish I could ask you so many questions ... one is how do you think this year compares to other years? A second would be kind of basic ... what are the "in colors" this year?

Hope to see you often here at First Wives.

JT

Big Thanks Mina

Hi -- I have been following your blog everyday. While I can only dream of being there it was fun to read and see all the excitement and new looks.
My style is to head to TARGET and Marshalls for myself but it has been a big help for me to see what the top designers are saying ther in NY.

Thanks again ... through you ...I had a lot of fun this week.
