The Stage Is Set for “The Petty Chronicles”
Nashville show based on Rachel Gladstone's FWW Blog
For much of the past year, FWW readers across the country have had their funny bones tickled by Rachel Gladstone’s enormously popular blog, “The Petty Chronicles”. But now, fans in the Nashville area have a whole new reason to hoot and holler.
The all-new theatre presentation of “The Petty Chronicles” will open at Bongo After Hours Theatre at 2007 Belmont Boulevard for two consecutive weekends beginning on February 12th.
Admission is $10 (a steal if you ask us, devoted fans of the blog that we are), but in a nod to popularity of “The Petty Chronicles” among those who are divorced or divorcing, there are additional discounts to be had, assuming you know your presidential history: Those divorced during the Bush I, Clinton, or Bush II administrations can receive a 10 percent discount. Those divorced during the Obama administration (or who plan to be), can receive a 20 percent discount.
In its blog form, “The Petty Chronicles” is by turns hilarious, satirical, insightful, and empowering. It's filled with pointed barbs, eye-opening insights, and empowering life lessons garnered from divorce and its aftermath. The three-woman play is produced by Ken Bernstein (Vampire Monologues, The Doyle and Debbie Show) and directed by Valerie S. Hart. It features Gladstone herself as Divorcee #1, Catherine Fleming as Divorcee #2, and Trish Crist as Divorcee #3.
Asked what drew her to the blog-turned-into-a-play’s script, director Valerie S. Hart said, “I think women are always empowered when they hear each other’s voices; especially the voice of a woman who has done battle and prevailed. I particularly love these ‘voices’ of Rachel and how various, even contrary, they are.”
The show opens on Friday, February 12 at 7:30pm, and runs through that weekend (February 12-13) at 7:30pm each night; on Valentine’s Day Sunday (February 14) at 5pm; and the following weekend (February 19-20) at 7:30pm each night.
